Ultra Fractal Tutorial - The Making of "Lords of Arrakis"
Part 8. Creating the "star enhancement" layer.

Page 2. Create new layer.

Step 3. Duplicate and rename "star" layer.

A. In the Layers tab, with the "star" layer highlighted, click on the Add Layer icon.

B. A new layer will appear above the "star" layer.
Note the Merge Mode of "Lighten" and the Opacity of "85%" that this layer has inherited. These also happen to be the values that I ended up adjusting this new layer to when I originally developed the image.
Therefore, we'll keep these values as they are.

Right-click on the highlighted area of the new layer.

C. In the popup menu that appears, click on Rename.
In the highlighted area, type in the new name, "star enhancement", and press Enter.

D. Shift-Click on the Editable icon for the "star enhancement" layer once or twice as required to cause it to be "on" and the Editable icons for all the other layers to be "off".

Step 4. Turn off visibility for all other layers.

This will be a temporary move to make creation of the "star enhancement" layer easier.

A. In the Layers tab, Shift-click once or twice on the Visible icon for the "star enhancement" layer until it is the only one "on".
Make sure that the "star enhancement" layer is still highlighted.

The image, which will simply be the image in the "star enhancement" layer, will look like this:
