Ultra Fractal Tutorial - The Making of "Lords of Arrakis"
Part 6. Creating the "planet edgelight" layer.

Page 7. Adjust transparent disk Clipping transformation.

Step 14. Develop transparency-creating disk.

A. In the Mapping tab, click the Enable icon for the Clipping - transparent disk transformation to On.
(The Clipping - white disk transformation is already enabled.)

B. Highlight the Clipping - transparent disk transformation by clicking on its name.

C. Set the Clipping Region for the Clipping - transparent disk transformation to "inside."

The image should now look like this:

The area of transparency of the Clipping - transparent disk transformation has been moved from outside the disk defined by the settings to inside the disk.

The only apparent change to the image is that now the white disk has disappeared and been replaced by the planet. This was not a matter of turning the white disk "off", but rather of imposing a "transparency-making" disk directly above it, punching it out so we can now see the planet through it.

Step 15. Adjust Transparency Mask

Now we will offset the circular transparency mask to the right, allowing a small crescent of the opaque white disk below to show through:

A. Set the parameters in the Clipping - transparent disk transformation as shown below:

The image should now look like this:
