Ultra Fractal Tutorial - The Making of "Lords of Arrakis"
Part 6. Creating the "planet edgelight" layer.

Page 5. Apply Clipping transformations.

Step 9. Make all layers visible.

A. In the Layers tab, with the "planet edgelight" layer highlighted, Shift-Click on the "planet edgelight" Visible icon once or twice as required to cause the Visible icons of all layers to come "on".

The image should now look like this:

The "planet edgelight" layer, being totally transparent, is not a visible factor in the image at this point..

Step 10. Copy Clipping transformations.

We will copy two copies of the clipping circle of the planet in the "nearby planet" layer to the "planet edgelight" layer. Since these clipping images are transparency masks and the entire "planet edgelight" layer is already transparent, they will not affect the image in their present configuration. They will be used, however, with their planetary circle-defining settings, as the basis for the "centered" and "offset" disks to be created.

A. In the Layers tab, click on the "nearby planet" layer.

B. Click on the Mapping tab.
In the Mapping tab, right-click on the Clipping transformation.
In the popup menu that appears, click on "Copy".

Step 11. Paste Clipping transformations.

A. In the Layers tab, click on the "planet edgelight" layer.

B. Click on the Mapping tab.
In the Mapping tab, right-click on the blank window in the top portion of the Mapping tab.

C. In the popup menu that appears, click on "Paste".
The Transformation tab will contain one Clipping transformation as shown below:

D. In the Clipping tab, once again right-click on the blank window in the top portion of the Mapping tab, and in the popup menu that appears, click on "Paste".

The Transformation tab will now contain two (identical) Clipping transformations as shown below:

Step 12. Rename Clipping transformations.

A. In the Clipping tab, right-click on the top one of the two Clipping transformations.
In the popup menu that appears, click on "Rename".
In the highlighted transformation name, type in "Clipping - transparent disk".
Press "Enter".

B. In the Clipping tab, right-click on the bottom one of the two Clipping transformations.
In the popup menu that appears, click on "Rename".
In the highlighted transformation name, type in "Clipping - white disk".
Press "Enter".
Leave the "Clipping - white disk" transformation highlighted.
