Page 6. Apply Lake transformation.

Step 10. Apply "Lake" transformation.
 
A. To make up the earth (dune) plane, my final step in developing the "lords 1" layer was to apply the "Lake" transformation, letting the question of whether the planetary surface is sand or water go begging in the cause of artistic license. As I applied this transformation, it had the effect of reflecting the rearing upper shapes down upon the "surface" below them, thereby adding a further degree of visual realism with their shapes, positions, and colors.

Click on the Mapping tab.

 

B. In the Mapping tab, click on the Browse icon.

 
This will cause the Select Transformation dialog box to appear.

 

C. In the root of the library, not in any folder, select the "Standard.uxf" transformation file, and, within this file, the Lake transformation. Click Open.

 

D. In the Mapping tab, highlight the Lake transformation.
Set the parameters for the Lake transformation as shown below:

 
The "lords 1" layer is now complete. The image should look like this:

 

Step 11. Save and back up.
 
A.Save the development file, "lords_of_arrakis_dev.upr", by clicking the save icon in Ultra Fractal. Since this file was previously saved (in Step 1), the name and path for the save are already established.
 
B.Use Windows Explorer to copy and paste a copy of the development file for backup purposes.
